What a night in support of the Professional Cricketers Trust!

On February 18th 2019, CowCorner Events launched their ‘Between The Ears’ Series in the company of two courageous cricketers that bravely uncovered their battles with mental health.

Marcus-Trescothic-01Before our guests arrived at 6pm, we welcomed World Media, ‘Sky Sports News’ to the event space. They went on to discuss the pitfalls of mental health in sport with Marcus and publicised the work that CowCorner Events are doing to raise awareness in a live interview to millions of viewers.

Guests were greeted with a complimentary Seedlip cocktail and stunning canapes in an intimate space at Bluebird in Chelsea, whilst Marcus Trescothick, Graeme Fowler and Chris Cowdrey were hidden away in another room meeting seven of our lucky auction bidders. As guests were seated, we moved Marcus Trescothick backstage ready for the big reveal. Fabian Cowdrey, the Director then gave a moving introductory speech to the audience about the Professional Cricketers Trust’ tireless work and mentioned partners Club D&D before handing over the mic to Former England Captain Chris Cowdrey, a maestro of the event circuit.

Marcus walked out following brief video footage of his stupendous success in an England and Somerset shirt and unravelled his personal story with a level of courage and truthfulness that touched the hearts of our audience. An inspirational man that has struggled from anxiety attacks since age 10 and was forced to retire from his childhood dream due to his inner pain yet, still at age 43, continues to fight his demons in order to continue his incredible career. Graeme ‘Foxy’ Fowler, another former England Cricketer and an active campaigner for mental health in cricket was then introduced and gave a fascinating insight into the life of a cricketer following retirement. The crowd were treated to a masterclass on the topic. It is never weak to speak out and no doubt the evening also served as an educational platform for everyone involved.

Chris Cowdrey then offered our audience the opportunity to question our special guests personally. The questions were touching and it was fascinating to see how mental health and the struggles faced within sport can be transferred into any walk life.

In conclusion, we’d like to thank all our guests for being part of this crucial movement and we hope to welcome you all again in the future!

What a night!

Best wishes from all of us at CowCorner Events!
